Bethany College is proud to welcome three new members to its faculty.
In preparation for the arrival of this year’s Pearson Professor, Bethany College will screen a PBS Nature film on September 10 at 8 p.m. in Lindquist Hall.
The film features this fall’s Pearson Professor Peter Savolainen, an international expert in genetics and the evolution of the domestic dog. A discussion about the film will be led by Mark Kozubowski, biology.
On September 2, an alumnus with a career in higher education and public administration will address the Bethany College community.
The opening year convocation, to be held at 10 a.m. in Presser Hall, is free and open to the public. Bethany students, staff and faculty will be in attendance.
Peter Savolainen, an international expert in genetics and the evolution of the domestic dog, will serve as Pearson Distinguished Professor of Swedish Studies at Bethany College this fall.
The Pearson Distinguished Professorship in Swedish Studies is endowed by a generous gift from the late Gerald “Bud” Pearson. It was created so that students, faculty, staff and community members can explore and understand ways in which modern Swedish culture and experience can be learned and incorporated into their own lives.
