Bethany College to raise awareness of abuse, violence

Bethany College will raise awareness of abuse and violence from October 5-8 during Sexual Assault Awareness Week.

Featured events will include:

  • The Clothesline Project in the lower level of Pihlblad Memorial Union. The project will remain up throughout the week and is a visible symbol that serves as a memorial with the purpose to bear witness to violence against women and men.
  • Presentation by Curt and Christie Brungardt regarding the 1100 Torches campaign on Monday, October 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Levin Room of Pihlblad Memorial Union. Their daughter Jana Mackey was a victim of violence.
  • Sexual responsibility awareness information booth outside of the cafeteria on Tuesday, October 6 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. presented by Social Justice Advocates.
  • Women’s self defense training by Sgt. Andrew McGhee of McGhee Enterprise on Oct. 6 at 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Levin Room of Pihlblad Memorial Union.
  • Odessa Snyder from Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Center, Inc. of McPherson and Marion Counties informational presentation outside of the cafeteria on Wednesday, October 7 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
