Pearson Professor to speak about genetic studies

Peter Savolainen, Bethany College’s 2009-10 Pearson Distinguished Professor of Swedish Studies, will give his final two public addresses November 10 and 18.

On November 10, Savolainen will give a public address titled “Genetic Studies Unraveling the Origins of the Dog.” He will speak at 7:30 p.m. in Lindquist Hall.

Savolainen will speak in Swenson Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on November 18.

Both presentations are free and open to the public.

Savolainen is an assistant professor at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. He specializes in forensic and genetic studies, particularly the study of dogs. In addition to teaching, he serves as a forensic expert for the Swedish police. This fall he has participated in a number of public events. He also led discussions and classes with students, faculty and staff on campus.
