Bethany music students to present recitals

Four Bethany College music students will present recitals this month in Presser Hall. The public is invited to attend.

Trumpet performance major Daniel Spears, Conway Springs, Kan., will present his senior recital on April 9 at 7:30 p.m. Spears will perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Giovanni Gabrieli, Herbert Clarke, Franz Joseph Haydn and Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni. He will be accompanied by Stephanie Burnelli, Genevieve Bishop and Melody Steed and joined by the Bethany Brass Ensemble.

Spears currently studies with Roger Thorstenberg. He is the son of Gary and Chris Spears.

Marlene Peters, Sublette, Kan., and Gabe Moore, Oberlin, Kan., will present their junior recitals together onApril 10 at 7:30 p.m.  An instrumental education major and pianist, Peters will perform works by Scarlatti, Mendelssohn and Chopin. For one number, she will be joined by student Amy Whitesell.

Peters currently studies with Dan Masterson. She is the daughter of Aba and Agnes Peters.

Also an instrumental education major, Moore will perform “A Little Prayer,” “Arian and Allegro” and “Concettino” on the euphonium. For “A Little Prayer,” he will be joined by the Bethany Brass Ensemble.

Moore currently studies with Richard Koshgarian and is the son of Monte and Kelly Moore.

Instrumental education major Jodi Bachand, Clyde, Kan., will present her junior recital on April 11 at 7:30 p.m.Bachand, a flutist, will perform works by Bach, Debussy, Shostakovich and Faure. She will be accompanied by Genevieve Bishop.

Bachand currently studies with Paula Patterson. She is the daughter of James and Alice Bachand.
