Bethany College is proud to welcome four new members to its faculty.
Stewart Brewer will begin this semester as an associate professor of history.
Brewer earned a Doctorate in international history from University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY), Master of Arts in anthropology and a Bachelor of Arts in history from Brigham Young University. He previously taught at Dana College in Blair, Neb., Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., and University of Albany, SUNY. Brewer was twice named Professor of the Year at Dana College. He has published a book titled, “Borders and Bridges: A History of U.S.- Latin America Relations.”
Jared Chase will serve as an assistant professor of music. He will teach instrumental music classes and direct the symphonic band, jazz ensemble and Blue Dozen pep band. He will also coach the brass ensemble.
Chase graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Colorado. Recently, Chase served as a doctoral conducting associate, music director of the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble and adjunct professor of trumpet at Sinclair Community College.
Na Peng will begin this fall as assistant professor of mathematics. She will teach mathematic courses including geometry and calculus.
Peng is a graduate of Ohio State University with a doctorate in mathematics, where she participated in a teaching assistantship. She also earned her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Southeast University in China.
Jeffery Wall will serve as an assistant professor of music at Bethany. He will teach vocal courses and direct choral activities.
Wall earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Carolina, Master of Music degree from the University of Tennessee and Bachelor of Music degree from Texas Tech University. His teaching experience includes one year at Georgia State University and one year at New Mexico Junior College. He has also served as a choir director at several churches and high schools.
