Bethany College has awarded Tyrone Paige, Jr., Killeen, Texas, a President’s Scholarship and a performance award in basketball for the academic year of 2010-2011.
Paige is the son of Royetta Paige. He previously attended Grossmont College. At Bethany, he plans to study criminal justice and athletic training.
The President’s Scholarship, a $6,000 annual grant, is awarded to students who earn a high school GPA of at least 3.0 or an ACT score of at least 21.
Performance awards are granted to students who show proficiency in a sport or fine art and contribute to campus life by participating in intercollegiate athletics, music, visual arts or theatre.
Performance awards and scholarships are renewable for up to four years if specific academic standards continue to be met.
Bethany College competes in 15 intercollegiate sports in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Since 1902, Bethany has won 147 conference championships.
