On September 7, Lindsborg Mayor Judy Neuschafer proclaimed that the month of September 2010 will be “National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.” Throughout the month, members of the Bethany and Lindsborg communities are encouraged to be educated about recovery from substance use disorders.
“Recovery Month highlights the benefits of treatment for not only the affected individual, but their family, friends, workplace, and society as a whole,” said Bethany College Counselor Valoree Barrett. “This month is a celebration of successes and an opportunity to educate the public on substance abuse disorders.”
A final celebration will occur on September 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Non-Alcoholic Beverage House (211 E. Normal). The event will include a picnic, live music and giveaways. This event is free and open to the public.
