Bethany College student Jamie Wollenberg was honored with the 2011 Glenn. T. Seaborg Award from Swedish Council of America on May 11 at Bethany’s annual academic honors banquet.
On May 22, Bethany College honored 95 students who earned Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, and Bachelor of Social Work degrees from the college during the 2010-2011 academic year.
Caroline Kahler is the 2010-11 recipient of the Donna Meredith Humphreys Award for Teaching at Bethany College. Kahler has been a member of the Bethany faculty since 1988 and is a professor of art, the art department chair, and the Mary J. Mingenback Distinguished Professor of Art.
Bethany College senior Joel Graham of Lindsborg exhibited his senior art show, “Find Your Rhythm,” at the Mingenback Art Center from May 12 to 17. A reception, gallery talk, and musical performance was held on May 15.
Bethany College signed an exchange agreement on May 11 with Linnaeus University, located in the Småland region of Sweden. The agreement established a partnership with Linnaeus, and it will encourage the exchange of students and faculty between the two institutions.
Bethany Head Softball Coach Janice Esses and Head Tennis Coach Vic Bateman have been named KCAC Coaches of the Year.
Bethany College will honor seven outstanding alumni on May 21 at the annual Alumni Awards Dinner.
Bethany College board member Jason Opat was inducted into the Mid-America Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame sponsored by Butler Community College on April 25. The hall of fame “is designed to publicly acknowledge and honor each class of inductees for their entrepreneurial spirit.”
Five Bethany College music students will perform during a department recital on May 10 at 2 p.m. in Presser Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
