Bethany College student Jacob Johannsen, Lindsborg, Kan., has received the Bethany College Outstanding Freshman in Chemistry award from the local section of the American Chemical Society. Johannsen was nominated by Loranelle Lockyear, associate professor of chemistry, and Mark McDonald, associate professor of biology.
Lockyear says, “This year, we have been blessed with an especially talented group of freshmen, and we had a difficult time choosing. We chose Jacob Johannsen because he has been an excellent student in the general chemistry course sequence and has expressed an interest in pursuing a career in the chemistry field. We felt he would be an excellent representative of the college within the American Chemical Society local section.”
The award consisted of a certificate and a check for $50. Johannsen is a freshman in chemistry.
