LINDSBORG, KAN., February 8, 2011—Bethany College faculty member Jeffery Wall has been invited by Mid-America Productions to conduct a performance of selected choruses from Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall in New York City in March 2013. Singers across the nation are invited to register for the chorus at www.midamerica-music.com. Additional information and registration forms are available below.
“I am very excited and humbled that I was asked to conduct at Carnegie Hall in New York City with Mid-America Productions,” said Wall. “It is a great honor and I am looking forward to working with singers from across the country.”
Wall has experience directing Messiah, as he is in his second year of leading the Bethany Oratorio Society’s performances during Bethany’s Messiah Festival of the Arts. “I hope that our Bethany students and community members will strongly consider coming to NYC with me to sing in the chorus as well. We will prepare selected choruses from Handel’s Messiah, so it will be a wonderful opportunity to perform in New York before bringing the performance home for the 2013 season of the Messiah Festival of the Arts here at Bethany.”
Wall is an assistant professor of music and is honored as the the Elmer F. Pierson Distinguished Professor of Music at Bethany. He teaches courses in choral pedagogy and conducting, aural skills, applied voice, and other vocal music classes. Wall is also the director of choral and vocal activities, conducting the Bethany Choir, the Chamber Singers, and the Bethany Oratorio Chorus for the annual Messiah Festival of the Arts.
Wall earned his doctor of musical arts degree from the University of South Carolina, his master’s from the University of Tennesee, and his bachelor’s from Texas Tech University. He has experience in collegiate, high school, professional, community, and church settings. Wall has served as Visiting Director of Choral Activities at Georgia State University and Director of Choral & Vocal Activities at New Mexico Junior College.
