LINDSBORG, KAN., March 21, 2012—Jared Chase, D.M.A., assistant professor of music at Bethany College, has been invited to present at the College Band Directors National Association southwest regional conference held at the University of Texas at San Antonio on March 29 to 31, 2012.
Chase will present on two Lieder by Gustav Mahler written for winds and voice. The two songs he will discuss are Um Mitternacht, “At Midnight,” and Der Tamboursg’sell, “Drummer Boy,” both written for voice and orchestral winds in the summer of 1901.
In addition to teaching, Chase is the chair of the music department and director of bands at Bethany. He earned his doctoral and master’s degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado. He recently served as music director of the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, First Presbyterian Church of Fort Thomas, Ky., and adjunct professor of trumpet at Sinclair Community College, as well as a member of the Cincinnati Brass Quintet.
