Symphonic Band to perform “Made in America” concert during 131st Messiah Festival of the Arts

LINDSBORG, KAN., March 20, 2012—The Bethany College Symphonic Band, directed by Jared Chase, D.M.A., will perform the concert “Made in America” on April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Auditorium. The concert is part of the 131st Messiah Festival of the Arts.

The concert will include “The Black Horse Troop” by John Philip Sousa, “Old American Songs” by Aaron Copland featuring Assistant Professor of Music Jeff Wall, D.M.A., and the Bethany College Choir, “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin featuring Associate Professor of Music Daniel Masterson, D.M.A., playing the piano, “Chorale and Shaker Dance” by John Zdechlik, “Elegy for a Young American” by Ronald Lo Presti, and “Give Us This Day” by David Maslanka.

The Symphonic Band includes community members, Bethany faculty members, and Bethany students.

Community members are  Carlotta Meeker, piccolo; Darren Brooks, trumpet ; Luke Augustine, trumpet; Emily Book, alto saxophone; Jodi Bachand, flute; Kyle Hopkins, horn; Laurel Kenney, horn; Lois Carlson, trombone; Mike Drier, trumpet; Chris Johnson, clarinet; and Shawn Knopp, baritone saxophone.
