Local Students Perform in “Theatre on a Shoestring”

LINDSBORG, Kan., April 30, 2012—Bethany College Theatre presents “Theatre on a Shoestring,” a series of student-directed plays on May 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Burnett Center. The plays “Words, Words, Words,” “The Sandbox,” and “The Diary of Adam and Eve” will be performed on May 4 and “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Lace” on May 5.

Melody Steed to Give Clarion Duo Concert, selected to perform at international convention

Melody SteedLINDSBORG, KAN., April 30, 2012—The Clarion Duo will give a free public concert on May 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Bethany College Presser Hall.

The Clarion Duo is made up of organist Melody Steed, and trumpet player Keith Benjamin. The concert will be a preview of their performance to be given during the International Trumpet Guild Convention on May 22 to 25 in Columbus, Ga. With more than 5,000 members on its roster, the guild promotes communication among trumpet players from across the world to improve the artistic level of performance, teaching and literature associated with the trumpet.

Wilson to exhibit senior art show, “Of All the Rights of Women”

LINDSBORG, KAN., April 30, 2012—Bethany College senior artist Hannah Wilson, Lyndon, Kan., will exhibit her senior art show, “Of All the Rights of Women,” at the Mingenback Art Center at Bethany on May 3 to May 8.

A reception in her honor will be held on Sunday, May 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. with a gallery talk by the artist at 2:30 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

Smith to Exhibit Senior Art Show, “Natural Conception”

LINDSBORG, KAN., April 19, 2012—Bethany College senior artist Cassandra Smith, Salina, Kan., will exhibit her senior art show, “Natural Conception,” at the Mingenback Art Center at Bethany on April 26 to May 1.

Professor Emeritus Charles “Doc” Englund Dies

LINDSBORG, KAN., April 19, 2012—Bethany College Professor Emeritus of Chemistry Charles “Doc” Englund passed away on April 17 in Atlanta, Ga.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Christians Funeral Home, 103 North Washington, Lindsborg, Kan. The funeral will take place on Monday, April 23, at 10 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Lindsborg. Continue reading

Washut to present piano recital

LINDSBORG, KAN., April 17, 2012—Bethany College student Kit Washut will present a piano recital on April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Hall. The recital is free and open to the public.

LINDSBORG, KAN., April 17, 2012—Bethany College student Julee Freeman will present a junior soprano recital on April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Hall. The recital is free and open to the public.
