LINDSBORG, Kan.—Bethany College Health and Physical Education Students will host a community walk night on Oct. 2 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Stadium. This event is free and open to the public.
LINDSBORG, KAN., October 1, 2012—More than 190 high school singers from around the state participated in the eighth annual Bethania Pre-Audition Choral Workshop at Bethany College on Sept. 27. Bethany’s music faculty helped prepare the singers audition pieces for their respective district, and eventually for the 2013 Kansas Music Educators Association State Honor Choir. Mass choir rehearsals were led by Jeffery Wall, D.M.A., assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Bethany. Sectional rehearsals were led by additional members of the Bethany music faculty and guest directors.
LINDSBORG, KAN., October 1, 2012—Bethany College will celebrate its Homecoming 2012 with two days of events from October 12 to 13. Highlights include a talent show with crowning of Homecoming royalty; a breakfast celebrating 40 years of Bethany volleyball; a luncheon celebrating the 10-year reunion of the men’s basketball NAIA National Champion Runner-Up team; reunions of Student Activities Board and tennis; alumni games of volleyball, tennis, and women’s and men’s basketball; and a Homecoming football game versus Tabor College. The following classes will be holding reunions: 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, and 1982.
The Bethany College Symphonic Band will perform a concert featuring the Bethany Horns on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Hall. This event is free and open to the public. The group will perform music with the theme “A Musical Grand Tour,” featuring the overture from “The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini, “Swedish Folk Suite” by Eric Osterling, “March of the Belgian Paratroopers” by Pierre Leemans, “Australian Up-Country Tune” by Percy Grainger, “Hammersmith” by Gustav Holst, “Florentiner” March by Julius Fucik.
