Faculty member to exhibit at Museum of Nebraska Art

Ceramic piece by Anita PowellBethany College Associate Professor of Art Anita Powell will display artwork at the “Art of Living” exhibition at the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) in Kearney, Neb., from Oct. 5 to Jan. 27.

Four of Powell’s ceramics will be displayed, including her “Easy to Understand Illustrations” suite entitled “Cutting,” “Sewing,” and “Ironing.” The fourth piece is also part of her “Garden” suite entitled “Blue.” Continue reading

Seven inducted into Athletic Hall of Honor

W.F.BanburyAt the Bethany Athletic Association (BAA) Weekend on Sept. 22, Bethany College inducted seven outstanding individuals into its Athletic Hall of Honor, including inductees Winfred Foster Banbury, John Quincy Banbury, Mike Zeyen, and Scott Gentine; Alumni Coach of the Year Bill Christner; and BAA Award of Merit recipients Marvin Anderson and Warren Olson.

Over 150 guests, including the Swede football team and several of last year’s student-athlete conference winners, attended the BAA Weekend Athletic Awards Brunch. The Bethany College Athletic Hall of Honor gives recognition to individuals whose performance on the athletic field during their time at Bethany College was noteworthy and exemplary of high standards for which Bethany College athletics historically have been known. Local Singers Prepare at Bethany College Workshop

Choral Workshop 2012LINDSBORG, KAN., October 1, 2012—More than 190 high school singers from around the state participated in the eighth annual Bethania Pre-Audition Choral Workshop at Bethany College on Sept. 27.

Bethany’s music faculty helped prepare the singers audition pieces for their respective district, and eventually for the 2013 Kansas Music Educators Association State Honor Choir. Mass choir rehearsals were led by Jeffery Wall, D.M.A., assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Bethany. Sectional rehearsals were led by additional members of the Bethany music faculty and guest directors. Continue reading

Bethany College celebrates Homecoming

Homecoming Candidates 2012LINDSBORG, KAN., October 1, 2012—Bethany College will celebrate its Homecoming 2012 with two days of events from October 12 to 13.

Highlights include a talent show with crowning of Homecoming royalty; a breakfast celebrating 40 years of Bethany volleyball; a luncheon celebrating the 10-year reunion of the men’s basketball NAIA National Champion Runner-Up team; reunions of Student Activities Board and tennis; alumni games of volleyball, tennis, and women’s and men’s basketball; and a Homecoming football game versus Tabor College. Symphonic Band to perform concert on Oct. 11

Symphonic BandThe Bethany College Symphonic Band will perform a concert featuring the Bethany Horns on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
