Jultide Concert at Bethany College celebrates the holiday season on Dec. 2

The annual music event, Jultide at Bethany, will be held Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. in Presser Hall.

The concert, entitled “‘Hodie!’ This day!”, is the college’s way of wishing the local communities a happy holiday, and the audience will be invited to join in singing traditional carols.

The College Choir and Symphonic Band will perform a set of Russian-themed musical works by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Alfred Reed and a reading by Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy. The group will be joined by special guests from area high schools who were selected for District Honor Choir. They will join the Bethany College Choir to sing “Rejoice!” by Jeffery Ames.

The free event will include performances by the Bethany College Choir, directed by Assistant Professor Jeffrey Wall, D.M.A.; the Bethany College Chapel Choir, directed by Visiting Assistant Professor Courtney Long, M.M.; the Bethany Symphonic Band and Bethany Horns, directed by Visiting Assistant Professor Guy Vollen, D.M.; and the Bethany College Handbell Ensemble, directed by Associate Professor Melody Steed, D.M.A.
