Dr. Mark McDonald
Associate Professor of Biology
Getting to know you…
Mountain hideaway or beach house?
Pup tent in the backyard, roasting marshmallows with my son.
What is your favorite sandwich?
Fried bologna on white bread. Unless you are my cardiologist, then my favorite is lettuce and cucumber on multigrain toast.
What is your favorite sport or television show to watch?
My son and I have a ritual of watching an episode of “Fairly Odd Parents” every morning before school. It makes us both laugh out loud! No better way to start the day than with a laugh and a smile!
What is your favorite joke?
My FAVORITE joke, or my favorite joke I am willing to tell in public?
What is one thing you wish everybody knew about you?
I am in the Federal Witness Protection program. Oops, that was the one thing I wished NOBODY knew about me! I need to read these questions more carefully.
Getting to know your program?
What is your academic area?
What is your favorite course to teach?
Whichever one I am teaching at the moment. Really.
What is the worst part of your job?
Sometimes the long hours keep me away from my family more than I would like.
What three things would you want all students to know or do?
Sit up straight, eat your vegetables, and get plenty of sleep.
What makes your academic area important?
Without biology, I would have to find another job, and teaching is the thing I am least bad at!
