Student artwork chosen for Messiah Festival Juried Exhibition

art_Messiah2013Juried-Art-ExhibitionWorks of art by 21 student artists will be on display as part of the Bethany College Messiah Festival Juried Student Art Exhibition on March 24 to April 2 in Mingenback Art Center.

The exhibition is free and open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24, at a reception in the gallery.

Bethany College “Messiah” dress rehearsal features students and community members

messiah dress rehearsalBethany College’s Messiah Festival conductor Jeffery Wall has selected eight students and two community members to sing the solo recitatives and arias in the dress rehearsal of Handel’s “Messiah” on Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m.

The rehearsal is free and open to the public. It will take place in Presser Hall on the Bethany College campus and is part of the preparations for the college’s 132nd annual Messiah Festival of the Arts.

Bethany students who were selected are Mikhail Zhilin, Rostov-on-Don, Russia; Nichol DeChant, Leavenworth, Kan.; Ashley Glover, Emporia, Kan.; Joanna Roberts, Lindsborg, Kan.; Sarah Peterson, Garfield, Kan.; Cecilia Ramsey, Garden City, Kan.; Laura Klaassen, Marquette, Kan.; and Spencer Wesley, Salina, Kan.

Spring Awards Banquet to honor five outstanding alumni

Bethany College will honor five of its alumni at the Spring Alumni Awards Banquet. Kenneth and Marilyn Sjögren will receive the Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Kipp Van Camp will receive the Distinguished Graduate Award. Kathryn Swanson and Tad Doering will receive the Award of Merit. Stanley Hays will receive the Gold Award.

The banquet takes place on March 23, 2013, in Pihlblad Memorial Union. A punch reception begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Levin Room followed by dinner at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Reservations are $15 per person and can be made by Friday, March 15, with the Alumni Office:
