Bethany welcomes special guests for commencement and baccalaureate

On May 19, Bethany College will welcome the Rev. Brian Maas, bishop of the Nebraska Synod, ELCA, to preach during baccalaureate worship at 10:30 a.m. and William E. Gusenius and John E. Hedeen to deliver remarks to the graduating class of 2013 during commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m.

Carlson to perform senior organ recital

Nickolas Carlson senior organ recitalBethany College Nickolas Carlson will perform his senior organ recital on May 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Hall.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will feature works by Max Reger, J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Oskar Lindberg, and Jehan Alain.

Carlson is a senior organ performance major from Lindsborg, Kan.  He has studied with Dr. Mary Ellen Sutton and is currently a student of Dr. Melody Steed.

Alumnus donates plants for campus landscaping

Dr. Eller (center) donates foliage every year.

Gordon Eller ’64 donates trees, shrubs, and plants for campus landscaping to Bethany every year. This April, he also donated blueberry bushes and vegetable plants for the community garden. Eller is a retired orthopedic surgeon and has a nursery and landscaping business in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
