Diplomat Randy Berry ’87 to speak at Bethany on Oct. 28

Randy BerryBethany College invites the community to hear U.S. Consul General in Amsterdam Randy Berry present a talk, “A Diplomat’s Role in the 21st Century,” on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, located on the southeast corner of campus at the intersection of First Street and Olsson Street.

This event is free and open to the public. Guests are also welcome to attend Bethany’s Chapel service at 10:30 a.m. in Swenson Chapel in Burnett Center, where Berry will also speak.

Berry is an alumnus of 1987 and is a current member of the Bethany College Board of Directors. He has served as the United States Consul General in Amsterdam since 2012 and has previously served as Consul General in Auckland, New Zealand, from 2009 to 2012 and Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 2007 to 2009. Berry has also taken postings in Bangladesh, Egypt, Uganda, South Africa, and Washington, D.C.

Berry holds a State Department Superior Honor Award and is a nine-time Meritorious Honor Award recipient. He speaks Spanish and Arabic.
