Visiting Associate Professor for Communications Franziska Macur, Ph.D., published the e-book “Charlie & Noel—An Advent Calendar Story” this month. The book was illustrated by senior graphic design major Meghan Klaassen, Marquette, Kan.
“Charlie & Noel” tells the tale of Charlie, a little boy who wishes he could just skip the whole waiting part and jump right into the presents. But Charlie doesn’t realize what he would be missing or just how many magical moments the season has waiting for him.
“I wanted to write this book for a long time and I’m so excited that it’s finally released,” says Macur. “I am very thankful for all the talented Bethany people who helped me bring this e-book to life.”
The story is told in 25 chapters, one for every day of Advent. Macur wrote the story for families to spend time together during Advent reading one part every night and talking about the issues raised by the story. Each chapter includes discussion starters and ideas for additional activities.
An audio book, recorded by Professor of Communication Carl Isaacson, Ph.D., and Associate Professor of Theatre Greg LeGualt, M.F.A., will also be released. The books are available at Macur’s blog at www.homenaturally.org and www.amazon.com.
