Bethany College’s Religion Department is beginning a new program to reach out into the community. The hope is to begin annually offering a 1 hour course for local clergy and lay people to audit.
This semester, the department is piloting this idea with “Problems in Christian Ethics.” The course will be taught Monday nights from 7:00pm-8:00pm in room 24 of the Social Science Building starting January 27th. The course will consider questions such as: Is Christian morality different from secular morality? What are the rules or virtues that inform Christian ethics? Are communities and congregations ethically responsible just like Christian individuals? These, and other, questions will be addressed as we discuss current social concerns such as healthcare, just war, violence, and environmental sustainability.
