Bethany College started the 2013-2-14 with a strong enrollment in the Fall semester and that trend continues with a spring student body of 619 students. This is the largest spring enrollment in 17 years and is a larger enrollment than 8 of the past 10 Fall enrollments as well.
“This is an exciting time at Bethany and I’m elated to welcome 40 new students this semester,” says President Edward F Leonard III. “Continued efforts to share the Bethany story along with strong student retention programs are showing positive results.”
Overall, student retention from Fall to Spring this academic year is 88.3%, with the sophomore, junior, and senior classes leading retention at 90% or higher for each class.
“Our work to co-create a tremendous student experience continues and our students are helping by being engaged in the classroom and other activities,” says Leonard.
The Bethany Pathway initiative is the starting point for students to become more fully engaged. It is a bold and innovative way of thinking about the first two years of college guided by Bethany’s core values and the four Missional Directions of Excellence – discovery, reflection, and vocation; global citizenship; servant leadership; and sustainable living.
Students are also engaged across different cultures since the current student population is also very diverse. Besides the students who came to study at Bethany from 32 states within the U.S., foreign students from 25 countries make up 7% of the student population.
