Melody Steed, D.M.A., associate professor of music, has been appointed to serve as the Assistant Academic Dean at Bethany College. Her appointment officially begins in July, according to the announcement made by Provost and Dean of Bethany College Ken Macur.
In her new role, she will continue her leadership on the Bethany College Core Experience and expand to include leadership of the Quest Experience and work with Student Development and other aspects of first and second year experiences. She will take a lead role in supporting the expansion of Faculty Development initiatives and will begin working to lead and coordinate the different special-curricular programs on campus, such as Pearson Professor, Johnson Lecture Series and interterm. She will retain her role as college organist and as the accompanist for the Bethany Oratorio Society.
Professor Steed received her bachelor’s degree in organ performance from the University of Northern Iowa and her master’s from the University of Cincinnati. Steed received her doctorate degree from the University of Southern California. She has studied organ with Marilou Kratzenstein, Jesse Eschbach, Roberta Gary and Cherry Rhodes
