Bethany College students will officially be welcomed to campus at the school’s annual Opening Convocation on Friday, August 22 at 10 a.m. in Presser Hall Auditorium. Kris Ericson, president of Bethany College Board of Directors, will be the guest speaker at the event.
Ericson graduated from Bethany College in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She earned a master’s degree in community psychology and a PhD in public administration, with a concentration on health policy, from Pennsylvania State University. She is a behavioral health consultant, with clients across the country. Her work includes serving as the chief executive of ACMHA: The College for Behavioral Health Leadership, assisting states and health plans in the redesign and implementation of Medicaid programs, mentoring emerging leaders, technical writing, education and training, and conference planning.
Her 30-year career in the field includes experiences as a clinician, administrator, advocate, and policy maker and she is passionate about improving the health care system to assure that all people have access to needed care. She participates in many professional societies to continually inform her work. Ericson lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is also active as a community volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, All Saints Lutheran Church, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness New Mexico.
