Assistant Professor of English Kristin Van Tassel teaches classes in writing and American literature.

Her essays and poetry have been published in Alternet, Counterpunch, Mamazine, Transitions Abroad, Relief and World Hum. Van Tassel has presented her work at the Popular Culture and American Culture Conference, which she attended in the spring of 2007 and 2009. She is also a member of the Prairie Writers Circle.

Previously, Van Tassel served as an adjunct instructor at Bethany College and has taught at Kansas Wesleyan University, Kansas State University in Salina, Yuba Community College, Sacramento City Community College and California State University. Van Tassel was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Kansas and California State University.

Van Tassel received her Ph.D. from the department of English at the University of Kansas.  She holds an M.A. from the Department of English at California State University and a B.A. from the Department of Writing and Literature at George Fox University.

Van Tassel is professionally associated with the Midwest Modern Language Association, National Council of Teachers of English and Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment.
