Biography:
Assistant Professor of Music Jared Chase began at Bethany College in 2010. He directs the symphonic band, jazz band, brass ensemble and blue dozen. Chase also teaches applied trumpet and courses in instrumental music and conducting.

Before Bethany, Chase served as a doctoral conducting associate, music director of the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble and adjunct professor of trumpet at Sinclair Community College. While pursuing his master and doctorate degrees at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), Chase conducted numerous concerts with the CCM Players, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds and Brass Choir. From 2004-2010 he was the music director of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Thomas, KY. Previously, Chase has taught band and choir for grades 4-12 in public schools in Ohio and Colorado as well as at Central State University.

He has performed with many professional bands and orchestras, including the Boulder Broadway Company, Colorado Light Opera, Boulder Dinner Theatre, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Concert Band, Dayton Bach Society, Springfield Symphony, Blue Ash Symphony, Kentucky Symphony, Lima Symphony Orchestra, Richard Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Dayton Bach Society and the salsa band, Grupo Fuego. In April 2010, Chase was invited to guest conduct the United States Military Academy “West Point” band in concert at Eisenhower Hall, New York as a part of their annual conducting workshop.

Chase graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees and received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He was recently the music director for the Salina Community Theatre’s production of Annie and has been invited to present his critical edition of Reynaldo Hahn’s Le Bal de Beatrice d’Este at the CBDNA National Convention in March of 2011.

Chase currently lives in Salina with his wife Diana and their dog, cat and umbrella cockatoo.
