The 2008-09 Pearson Distinguished Professor of Swedish Studies at Bethany College was Jimmy Sjöblom, an international expert in sustainability. Sjöblom, who also was the 2001 Pearson Professor, works as a consultant, trainer and advisor for Det Naturliga Steget / The Natural Step, Sweden.
