Courtney Long , M.M. » Saxophone Quartet

saxThis group plays at many functions throughout the year. Its repertoire is drawn from Classic saxophone literature to swing and pop music of today. Recently they performed at the Region 6 Convention of the World Saxophone Congress.

Originally from Clearwater, Kan., Courtney Long has been playing the saxophone for 15 years and piano for 20. She received her bachelor’s in saxophone performance from Friends University in 2008, where she had many great performance opportunities, including Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy and Jazz a Juan in France. Long then received her master’s in music theory and composition from Wichita State University in 2010.

Long came to Bethany in 2012 after previously teaching in Wichita at The Independent School and the Word of Life Traditional School. She has taught private lessons for over ten years and actively composes and performs music.

Long has played with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Wichita Wind Ensemble Professional Band. She supports music education for youth by serving as a woodwind judge for the Kansas State High School Activities Association and saxophone teacher for the Kansas Lions Band.
