Johnson Lecture Series
Lucy Johnson and the late Charles D. Johnson of McPherson, Kansas, helped establish and provide funding for this series, which began as a project during the centennial of Bethany College in 1981. From the very beginning, the Johnson Lecture Series has provided the campus community and the public with exceptionally thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating speakers representing a breadth of subjects to expand our knowledge and enrich our lives. Previous lecturers include journalist Juan Williams, astronaut James Lovell, Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel, documentary filmmaker Ken Burns and humorist Garrison Keillor.
Mauney Lecture Series
A gift from Dr. C. Herman and Emily Mauney of Albuquerque created an endowment for the Carl F. and Catherine Herman Mauney Distinguished Lectureship Series in Economics and Business, which has brought a business speaker to the Bethany campus every year since 1985. Named in honor of Dr. Herman Mauney’s parents, the fund provides educational and professional development opportunities to students, faculty and friends of Bethany College.
