| Individual attention is given to each student applying for admission to Bethany, and each applicant is considered based on the student's academic qualifications and probable success at Bethany.
Students seeking admission to Bethany must meet two of the following three criteria to be considered for admission:
- Achieve a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (based on a 4.0 scale);
- Score a minimum of 19 on the ACT (900 SAT); or
- Rank in the top 50 percent of their graduating high school class.
Applicants that fail to meet admissions standards for acceptance to Bethany College may have the option of submitting two letters of reference and a one-page essay. This information should be sent directly to the Office of Admissions. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to request an on-campus interview with the student if deemed necessary.
Applicants that meet two of the three minimum requirements will be strongly considered for admission; however, admission is not guaranteed.
Standardized test scores, GPA and class ranks are important factors we consider but are not the exclusive factors being reviewed. Other factors considered when evaluating a candidate include:
- A personal interview with an Admissions Representative,
- Participation and leadership history in school and community activities,
- Artistic and musical ability and promise for potential art and music majors,
- The interest a student demonstrates regarding Bethany College
To be well prepared for Bethany College, it is highly recommended that high school students pursue:
- 4 years of English,
- 3 years of mathematics,
- 3 years of natural science (including two years of laboratory science), and
- 3 years of social science.
Students are also encouraged to complete at least one year of a foreign language (preferably two).
Campus visits and interviews are encouraged. You may meet faculty, students and staff; exchange information and discuss your education options with an Admissions Representative; and tour campus facilities and grounds. Overnight accommodations are available. Please make arrangements two weeks in advance of your visit by calling 800-826-2281 or emailing admissions@bethanylb.edu.
Admission decisions are made beginning October 1 on a rolling basis; candidates are notified as soon as their completed application and supporting materials have been received and evaluated. |
