Establishing a scholarship is a deeply rewarding way of supporting Bethany College students. The primary purpose of a scholarship is to encourage students to pursue academic excellence. Scholarships also recognize the special abilities, interests, or individual characteristics of students. Because many Bethany students come from families with limited means, scholarships often make the crucial difference in a student’s ability to attend Bethany.
Annually funded scholarships are given by donors to assist students with the cost of tuition, fees, room and board. Scholarships may be created in honor or memory of a specific family member, friend or faculty member. Annual scholarships begin at $1,000 and are made each year.
Endowed scholarships, with a minimum investment of $10,000, may also be named by the donor. Earnings from your endowed scholarship will be used to fund a scholarship each year according to the criteria that you set. It may be unrestricted or you may restrict the scholarship to certain majors, specific geographical areas, academic standing, or some combination of factors. Award decisions are made by the college’s director of financial aid.
