Labs
Bethany’s computer facilities include two networked computer labs with high-speed Internet in Nelson Science Center. The labs are open from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m., seven days a week. Use of one of the labs may be pre-empted by classes held in the lab. Both Nelson labs are equipped with laser printers and scanners. Students may use all lab resources free of charge.
Additional computers
In addition to the Nelson labs, other computers are available for specialized purposes. For example, the music department has Macintosh computers and compatible musical instrument digital interface (MIDI) equipment for for electronic music composition, performance and printing.
Wireless access
Wallerstedt Social Science Center, where many Bethany classes are held, is a wireless hotspot. Levin Room in the Union and Lindquist Hall in the library are wireless hotspots. When combined with the wireless LCD projectors installed in several classrooms, faculty and students can use the latest projection technology and Internet resources as learning tools.
Residence halls
All student rooms in residence halls are equipped with high-speed Internet connections, and students are encouraged to bring personal computers for their own use. Computer services staff will scan student computers for viruses or other threats to the network before these computers are connected to the network. All you need is an Ethernet card and cable. If your computer came with a Network Interface Card (NIC) or already has a NIC installed, you are ready to go! If not, you should purchase a NIC and an Ethernet connection cable with RJ45 plugs from either the Student Union Bookstore, or various local vendors.
Email accounts
Computer services will assign students a user name and account, giving students access to the Bethany network and an email account. This account will be the college’s official and formal means of communication with students, and students are expected to check their Bethany account daily.
