Mission Statement: What is the mission of your program?
The mission and goals of the Mathematics program are to provide the courses required by Mathematics and 3+2 Engineering Mathematics majors (there is some leeway in the choice of these courses, but there is a general suggestion list put out by the Mathematics Association of America).
The 3+2 Engineering Program is a cooperative program with Wichita State University (WSU) allowing a student to complete a Bachelor of arts Program with a mathematics major at Bethany College and a Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering at WSU by attending Bethany 3 years and completing an additional 2 years at WSU.
The program requires a minimum of 97 semester hours of college credit granted by Bethany College. Of the 97 semester hours 32 must be taken in residence at Bethany College immediately prior to entering the engineering program. Bethany will award upper level credit for the successful completion of WSU engineering courses at or above the junior level. All other Bethany degree requirements must be met, including General Education requirements.
This program enables a student to concentrate on liberal arts and sciences preparation during the first three years, with engineering coursework coming at the end of the student's program. In addition to meeting the General Education requirements of the College, Bethany students must complete the following mathematics and supporting courses prior to enrolling at WSU:
Areas of engineering included in this program are:

| *Requirements of this course depends on the intended area of graduate study. |
A student would complete the requirements for the Bethany BA degree by completing 2 years of work as indicated for the specified engineering program. If a student qualified under the Senior Rules of Graduate School at WSU (GPA of 3.00 or above in major field and in upper division courses and within 10 hours of graduation), he or she may petition to start taking graduate courses during the last semester of the baccalaureate program.
Once a student is admitted to a masters program, he/she will be assigned an adviser, who will guide the student through degree completion. The degree of flexibility in the masters program precludes specifying a particular set of required courses for the Masters degree.
