The 3rd Annual Thank-A-Thon was an even bigger hit than last year! Bethany College students penned handwritten letters of thanks to 479 donors as part of this year's Valentine's Thank-A-Thon. The annual event - now in its third year - is sponsored by the Alumni Office. Classes and students compete during the week to thank the most donors and win prizes. With 238 donors thanked, the junior class won a pizza party. Sophomore Gilda Alvarez wrote 96 letters to claim the individual prize. "Some students get very competitive, and some students just write one, but one is better than none," said junior Beth Prier, who helped organize the event. Members of Student Congress also helped staff the booth outside of the cafeteria. Prier said that receiving personal notes from students, "explaining that you're why I'm able to be here at Bethany," means a lot to donors. "It's also important for students to realize that the money given to them isn't always federal. People are donating just for you," she added. "This is a gift."
