ATEP Admission Requirements
 
Students shall be granted candidacy (probationary) status in the ATEP after the submission of all application materials. Professional phase selection requires the satisfactory completion of all candidacy application materials, prerequisite and introductory athletic training courses. 
Priority application screening begins March 1. Students may apply for openings until the start of the Fall Academic Semester or until all candidacy positions have been filled. Limit: 8-12 per year. 
1.                  Transfer students must submit Official Transcripts from all colleges attended to the Registrar. Cumulative GPA Requirement is 2.5
2.                  Submit the following Candidacy Application materials *:
a.        Application form
b.       Letter of Interest
c.        Personal recommendation
d.       Personal Resume
e.       Technical Standards
f.         Physical Exam (including HBV results/declination form and Tb test results)
h.       Academic Requirements and Discipline
*      All forms are available from the ATEP Director or on the ATEP Website
 
3.                  Submit verification that the following have been completed at the conclusion of the first semester of candidacy (December 20). Selection into the Professional Phase shall be based upon: overall GPA, prerequisite course GPA, and Clinical Instructor Evaluations. A selection committee will review all applications to the Professional Phase.
a.        Prerequisite and introductory athletic training courses:
·         Introductory Biology I (with Lab)
·         Human Anatomy and Physiology
·         Emergency Response for AT 
·         Treatment, Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries
·         Introduction to Clinical Experiences in Athletic Training
b.     Attendance at a Candidacy Introductory Meeting
Applicants who received prior education at a school in which English was not the primary language of instruction must also return all required documentation for admission into the ATEP; (viz., unconditional acceptance to Bethany College, show proof of having taken the Test of Spoken English [TSE] developed and administered by the Educational Testing Service [ETS] and, receiving a score of at least 50). Each of these requirements must also have been met prior to acceptance into the program.
