NEW Lutherans Online  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is the proud sponsor of Lutherans Online, designed especially for Lutherans and Lutheran organizations.

Did you know that you can help your college by doing internet searches through Good Search? www.goodsearch.com is a charitable search engine. What’s in it for you? You are able to search the web at a location that allows you to filter adult information. What’s in it for Bethany. We receive the benefit of one penny per search.

We estimate that each search will raise $0.01 for Bethany. The more people use GoodSearch, the more money will be directed towards your college. The sky is the limit!

Here's an example of how much your organization can earn: 100 people doing 2 searches a day could yield $730 in estimated revenue for the college. For free! At the rate that we have currently seen we would raise $560. To date we have $108.89 accumulated from searches. Won’t you join us today? I set Good Search as my homepage. I even link to the Bethany website through Good Search. Please help BC in this simple free way!

We want you to share your news with us. Let us know of important and even regular things that are happening in your life. We will even post pictures. To post your news click here, or email us at greenupj@bethanylb.edu .   The plan is to grow toward on-line communities by decade, but until then we will have a monthly news update.

All are welcome. Hmmm, wondering what that means ~ just click here!

Alumni – do you have a minute?  And will you use that minute to do something that will benefit Bethany College?

All you have to do is follow the example of David Nelson, ’67, who added the Bethany College website as a link to his own website (www.humanagenda.com).  With each new link to a website, Bethany College becomes more visible to more people searching the web every day.

In Memory

Pauline Talbott '41 passed away July 12, 2007.  She was the assistant dean of students from 1967-1986.  Memorial Service for Pauline will be held Monday, July 16, 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 224 S. Main.

Carroll Erick Johnson- Passed away with family present on the evening of July 1st, 2007, following complications of a stroke. Survived in love and faith by his wife Kaye Linda; his daughter Katie; his daughter Corey; son Kip; son-in-law Matt; and extended Johnson and Schlichting families. Carroll was born January 24, 1948 in the farm town of Stanton, Iowa. After graduation from college, he continued his passion for baseball, playing for semi-pro teams throughout the Midwest. He married Kaye Linda Schlichting in December of 1975, and started his career as a salesman in the agricultural industry. This career spanned over 30 years, 25 states, and he was most recently named Regional Sales Manager for West Central Co-op. Carroll's greatest job satisfaction came in knowing his clients as friends. Carroll worked for Bethany as the head baseball coach. As a dedicated family man, Carroll's most cherished moments were spent having barbecues on the back porch, Johnson road trips to Kip's baseball games, and the nightly together time spent with games and music around the kitchen table. Carroll led by example in a household of faith. Please join the family at a Memorial Service held in his honor Friday, July 6th, 11:00 AM at Colbert Presbyterian Church, 4211 E. Colbert Rd., Spokane. A memorial has been set up in Carroll's honor, and donations will be allocated by the family to a variety of charities in his name. The Carroll Johnson Memorial Fund, c/o Colbert Presbyterian Church, 4211 E. Colbert Rd., Spokane, WA 99005.

Bethany College has begun a 10-month process designed to help the college live up to its full potential. Bethany has contracted with Carnegie Communications to conduct a branding study for the college. The process includes market research, brand-plan development, and development of creative vehicles to help communicate with our constituents. The end result will be clearly articulated, consistent, compelling ways to communicate what Bethany does best to prospective students, alumni, donors, and the community.

Important Note: A quick note about the archives. You will notice that we are now producing one publication monthly rather than two. After experimenting with the website and electronic news it appears that one is sufficient to get all of the news to you. We will continue to forward the monthly news links to you at the end of each month. Thank you for your feedback regarding our online publications.
