Art Department Mission Statement: The art department believes that an understanding of the visual arts is integral to the liberal education of all students. 1. The art department strives to create a visual learning enviornment in which students are encouraged to make connections in all the visual art disciplines and to bring this knowledge to their future careers in the arts. 2. The art department encourages an enviornment of curiosity and discovery in which students can grow as artists, art educators, art therapists, art administrators and art designers. 3. The art major is one who can make connections with the discipline of art to the enviornment in which they live and serve. Art students are prepared to make connections between the art disciplines through rigorous studio practice, fostering imagination and transformation; students bring this knowledge to their careers. The faculty and students of the Art Department invite you to be a part of the arts in action at Bethany College. Our increased enrollment and new additions to the facility contribute greatly in developing the skills necessary for each student to realize their creative potential.
