Performance awards are based on auditions. You may be eligible to receive a performance award even if you are not a music major.
*Music Performance Award and Scholarship recipients must enroll and satisfactorily participate in a major performing ensemble, (The Bethany Choir, The Bethany Chapel Choir, The Bethany Symphonic Band, The Bethany College/Lindsborg Community Orchestra), and private lessons each semester to keep their Music Performance Awards and/or scholarships in force. Recipients in piano must enroll and satisfactorily participate in an ensemble or accompany music lessons, and will be expected to participate in the Music at Bethany Days throughout the year. Secondary music lessons can be used to meet the General Education requirements in the Artistic Mode of Inquiry.

Baber Scholarships
The stated purpose of the Baber Scholarship is to encourage professional music performance career development. Baber Scholarship winners must, during their first semester at Bethany College, enroll in a major performing ensemble, music lessons, and a music course, and must, during subsequent semesters, continue to be actively involved in the Music Department by taking music lessons and by participating in Bethany College’s major vocal and/or instrumental ensembles.
The Baber Scholarships’ recipients are chosen by the full-time Music Department Faculty acting as the selection committee, of the recipients’ first year (upon confirmation of matriculation) and published in the May Honors Banquet at the end of the recipients’ first year. A $2000.00 award to an entering student, paid in four yearly amounts of $500.00.
Elmer Copley Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Chosen by the full-time Music Department Faculty acting as the selection committee and announced at the current year’s May Honors Banquet, a senior Music Department Major receives this one-time $2000.00 award.
Lindsborg Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) Alumnae Chapter Scholarship(s)
Chosen for the coming year by the Music Department Executive in consultation with the SAI campus chapter sponsor and honors committee, the recipient(s) of this scholarship receive a scholarship of a variable amount, depending upon the donation from the Alumnae Chapter. This award is published in the current year’s May Honors Banquet program.
White Music Scholarship Foundation
Amounts of these scholarships are for one year only and are decided by the White Scholarship Foundation Music Audition Committee, based upon an annual music performance competition. Because the White Music Scholarship competition date is often so close to the Bethany College Honors Banquet date, the names of the coming year’s awardees are not always available for publication in the program. Therefore, the current year’s recipients are published in the Honors Banquet program.
