The 2007 Bethany College Swedes will start the season being nationally ranked 22nd in the NAIA polls. The Swedes have been a perennial top 25 ranked team the last three seasons, including last season’s 41-15 record.
Coach Matt Tramel will be entering his fourth season as Bethany College’s head coach. Coach Tramel has led the Swedes to 121 wins and 51 losses in the last three years, compiling two of the best seasons in KCAC baseball history. Read More
2006 Season Review
The Swedes completed the 2006 season with an overall record of 41-15, and a 16-9 record in conference play, earning them a second place finish in the KCAC and an automatic NAIA Region IV Tournament berth. At the tournament, May 10-13 in Hutchinson, Kan., the Swedes were 2-2 with wins against fellow conference teams Ottawa University and Friends University. The Swedes lost to MCAC teams Bellevue University and Park University, which battled it out in the Championship game May 13.
Bethany seniors Chris Green, Mercer, Pa. and Joey Martinson, Salt Lake City, Utah, were named to the NAIA Region IV All-Tournament team. As of May 15, the Swedes were ranked 3rd in NAIA Region IV.
Several members of the baseball Swedes also earned KCAC honors.
Baseball at Bethany College has had many successes in recent years. Since 2000, the team has earned:
- NAIA regular season and pre-season rankings
- two KCAC Championships
- two KCAC tournament championships
- one finish as NAIA Region IV runners-up
