Welcome back to the new face of the monthly E-Newsletter for Bethany Alumni. I hope you had a good month and "weathered" the heat that August gave us across the nation. Today it was incredibly beautiful with a high of 80. A perfect day for the official opening of the college. We had the Opening Convocation this morning, August 30. Opening Convocation is always one of my favorite times. Students are recognized for their scholarship achievements, faculty are recognized for their scholastic achievements, and best of all the Class of 2010 was introduced. Every new class brings fresh energy and life to the college. It reminds us of why we are here.
Last month I told you I had been thinking about my goals for this fiscal year. As I spoke with the alumni council last weekend the focus this year will be to grow our circle. By this I mean to:
Bethany is our college. Together through our collective efforts we can continue to see her thrive and flourish. Get connected and stay connected.
The Alumni Council is now taking applications for the Fall 2007 Gold Award and Spring 2008 Award of Merit. To learn more about these Awards click here. You may download a copy of the nomination forms at this link and type directly onto them. Email completed forms to the Alumni Office in care of aschej@bethanylb.edu.
The Alumni Office is also accepting applications for the Fall 2007 Athletic Hall of Honor. You can also learn more about the Athletic Hall of Honor by clicking here. Forms are also available at that link.
Colene Lind has accepted the appointment of Interim Vice President of External Affairs. She will oversee Advancement operations as well as Admissions and Communications. There will be a press release soon but is not available at this time.
Advancement is still in the process of searching for a Director of the Annual Fund. We will keep you updated.
The campus is bubbling with activity as the students have arrived and are getting settled in their rooms and routines. Classes have begun and we are off to a great start. We are also bubbling with physical plant updates.
And that is just some of the physical plant happenings. We still have lots going on for alumni to come and see and do. Check out upcoming events below.
Bethany held a community open house to celebrate a record-breaking year for fundraising -- and the fact that the school balanced the books again this year.

One more wonderful addition to the Lindsborg/Bethany Community is the community trail. It runs from the Soccer fields to the south end of town past the river and park. This is phase one of three phases. It is a must do when you come to town next. |
Bethany is rich with activity, excitement and energy. We hope that you will get connected and stay connected. If you have friends that aren't receiving this newsletter, have them contact us so that we can be sure to have them on the list serve.
We want to know what is going on in your life, tell us your news, or let us know if you have things from campus you want to know more about. Email us at greenupj@bethanylb.edu or communicate through the Submit News page.
Until next month have a great life!
