Rev Ernest and Mrs. Martha Bergeson both of the class of 1942 and of Harwich, Massachusetts share the following message: On June 30, 2007 Ernest gave a sermon and commendation at the memorial service for his grandson Will Bergeson at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairbanks, AK. He was missing since November 11, 2006 and was found in the chena River April 16, 2007. Gifts of $27,000 were given for a Will Bergeson Scholarship in mechanical engineering at the University of Alaska - Fairbanks. It is still uncertain as to what happened to him. More than 500 attened the service.

Mr. Bruce Krase, '75~Whitewater, Kansas, principal at Remington Middle School, Remington-Whitewater USD 206, who was named the 2007 Principal of the Year by the Kansas Association of Middle School Administrators.
On March 27, Bethany alumna Sharon Reed '83~Westport, Connecticut will speak on “Working on Wall Street Without an Instruction Manual” as part of Bethany College's Carl F. and Catherine Herman Mauney Distinquished Lectureship Series in Economics and Business. The lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. in Lindquist Hall. It is free and open to the public. Reed holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Science from Bethany College. She also holds a C.P.A., and has attended numerous executive management courses, including courses at Harvard University, the London Business School and M.I.T.

KC Alumni Chapter Kick-Off Event was a huge success by all who planned, attended and had a great time! Over 100 Bethany alumni and friends participated in the recent Ol Stuga night at the Boulevard Brewery in Kansas City, MO. Roper DeGarmo ‘00, Alison Huber ‘03, Phil Williams ‘03, Phil Merz ’96 and of course Mark Lysell ‘74 put together this special event. Alumni representing over 50 years of Bethany (1957-2007) were there – and every single decade was represented. More pictures are available by clicking HERE!
Former Lindsborg resident, Bethany College music professor and Messiah Festival conductor Greg Aune is currently undergoing treatment for bone cancer. Bryon Smith, '05, Salina, Kansas, and wife Jaime are living in Salina and he has recently changed jobs from GL Huyett in Minnepolis, KS where he was the inside sales manager to Salina Vortex where he's now a sales engineer. They have a 2 year old (Peyton) and a daughter (Halle) who was born 11/06/2007.
Jason Opat ('93), Wichita, Kansas, was appointed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to a three-year term on the Kansas Film Commission. Opat is the president of Integrated Media Group in Wichita.
Heather Gregory '96, Charlotte, North Carolina is working forBank of America as a Document Administrator in the Global Wealth and Investment Management-Private Bank Division.

Walter Eugene "Gene" Hedstrom, husband of Joyce (Curtis) Hedstrom '58 passed away February 2, 2008 at Lincoln, NE. While he was not an anlumni of Bethany, many Bethany graduates knew him and they attended many events at Bethany. He particularly enjoyed Bach and the Messiah. They had been married 51 years.
John E. Altenborg '40, Lindsborg, died Sunday, March 23, 2008. Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg, is handling arrangements.
Almeda S. Carlson, 92, friend of the college, passed away December 19, 2005 in Federal Way, Washington.
Mother of Tracie (Goss) White '86 of Colorado Springs and Todd Goss '88 of McPherson, Nancy S. Goss, 69, of Aurora passed away February 1, 2008. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at 2:00pm, Olinger Hampden Chapel, 8600 E. Hampden Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's name to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Professor Emeritus Carl F. Jacobs '31, Las Cruces, New Mexico~ passedaway November 23, 2007 at the age of 97 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of Bethany College. Upon his retirement from New Mexico State University, he donated his entire collection of books and music to the Bethany College Library.
Doug Manzer '84, Highlands Ranch, Colorado~ passed away February 29th, 2008. His service will be Wednesday, March 5th at Mountainview Community Christian Church 40 E. Highlands Ranch Pkwy. Highlands Ranch, Colorado at 2:00. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association. There is a website to send condolences via e-mail

Mark Kozubowski, professor of biology at Bethany College, will participate in an annual MS walk, sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to support programs, services and research on MS. Kozubowski's team, the Myelinators, will walk in Salina on Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to lunch. Last year's Myelinators included four Bethany students, two Bethany faculty members and three spouses and friends.
Professor earns Woodward Award for travel ~ Margaret Presley, associate professor of social work at Bethany, has been awarded a Woodward Award for travel to the Baccalaureate Program Directors annual conference, held in Destin, Fla., March 5 through 9, 2008. The Woodward Endowment for Creative Teaching and Learning supports activities that enhance creative teaching and effective student learning at Bethany.

The process includes market research, brand-plan development, and development of creative vehicles to help communicate with our constituents. The end result will be clearly articulated, consistent, compelling ways to communicate what Bethany does best to prospective students, alumni, donors, and the community.
