Karla Lohaus-Fast '00, teacher of special education at Paola Middle School, is being recognized as the 2008 Secondary Teacher of the Year. She and her husband, Randy, have one son, Christopher. She enjoys teaching at Paola, especially since it is her home town. Her goal is to never do the same thing twice so that teaching and learning are more interesting. Karla appreciates the collaboration with staff and feels this is very important especially since the philosophy of inclusion is strengthening due to No Child Left Behind. Karla states, "I collaborate with regular education teachers to ensure success for all students. As a teacher I provide information about the diversity of students’ identified needs."

Dear Alumni & Friends,
I received this email today and thought it was worth sending to the community to remind folks about the benefits of GoodSearch. We did receive our first check this last September. I too use GoodSearch as my search engine. Please consider this as a way to get free money for the institution.
It is as easy as starting your internet browser, go to tools, and internet options. Type in www.goodsearch.com as your home page and click ok. I have even started using their shopping page for certain things as we get additional percentages. It is small but many small drops of rain can add up to a river. Jennifer Greenup
Good Morning! I use the GoodSearch engine on the Internet each day. But, I’m always disappointed when I see how little this possible money maker is being used. Frankly – it’s pitiful. Surely we can get Bethany each staff member, faculty member and student to do just ONE search each day to earn enough $$ to get a monthly light bill for one dorm room paid each month!

Bethany College has begun a 10-month process designed to help the college live up to its full potential. Bethany has contracted with Carnegie Communications to conduct a branding study for the college. The process includes market research, brand-plan development, and development of creative vehicles to help communicate with our constituents. The end result will be clearly articulated, consistent, compelling ways to communicate what Bethany does best to prospective students, alumni, donors, and the community.
