Bethany News--Godspell
BEHTANY COLLEGE TO PRESENT “GODSPELL”
 
Bethany College will present the musical “Godspell” Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 7:30 in Burnett Theatre.   
            Admission is $7, with $5 tickets for Bethany faculty, staff and students. Tickets will be available at the door.
            Based on the Gospel of St. Matthew, “Godspell” was written by two then-college students John-Michael Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz. It was an immediate hit when it opened off-Broadway in 1971, and won a Grammy Award for Best Score. Productions of it have been mounted throughout the United States and in countries around the world.          
            Several songs from it became chart hits, including “Day by Day” and “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord.”
            The play is directed by Greg LeGault, assistant professor of theatre. Musical director/conductor is Dan Mahraun, associate professor of music.
            The cast includes students Benjamin Mordecai, freshman from Lindsborg, as Jesus and Thomas DeWitt, freshman from Lindsborg, as John the Baptist.
            Other cast members are Ashley Coffman, junior from Lawrence; Heather O’Dell, junior from Albuquerque, N.M.; Janice “Lacey” Smith, freshman from Bedford, Texas; Nicolette Unruh, freshman from Pawnee Rock, Kan.; Megan Pound, junior from Lyons, Kan.; and Sean Boller, freshman from Lindsborg.
