BETHANY ESTABLISHED CRIMINAL JUSTICE GROUP

Theta Pi, a local chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the national organization of criminal justice societies, has been established at Bethany College.
Doug Smith, assistant professor of criminal justice, is the group’s advisor.
Officers are Shanda Kilian, president; Laura Callahan, vice president; Samara Withers, secretary; and Hope Stieben, treasurer.
The group intends to go to the Kansas State Supreme Court in Topeka and tour a courtroom, according to Kilian. They also want to attend a national conference.
“We are starting a research project in which we will note the opinions of non-criminal justice majors and compare them to the opinions of criminal justice majors on topics such as the death penalty,” she said.
