BETHANY HIRES NEW FULL-TIME FACULTY
LINDSBORG, Kan.— Bethany College announces the appointment of five new full-time faculty members.
Gail Konzem is a professor in elementary education. Konzem earned a bachelor’s in education from Marymount College of Kansas and a master’s in education administration from Kansas State University. He has served as teacher and principal at the elementary school level in Salina. Most recently he was assistant principal at South Middle School in Salina.
David Slack, Ed.D, LAT, ATC, is athletic training coordinator and associate professor of the athletic training program. He holds an education doctorate in sports management from the University of Utah and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Brigham Young University and Utah State University, respectively. Most recently Slack was assistant professor of the HPEES department and program director of the athletic training education program at Washburn University in Topeka. Prior to Washburn, Slack served as professor, athletic director and head athletic trainer at Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
Eric Hyler, Ed.D, is assistant professor of secondary education. His education doctorate in curriculum and instruction is from the University of Kansas. He also holds a master’s in educational administration and bachelor’s in social studies education from KU. Hyler has served various administrative positions in USD 343, Perry, Kan. Most recently, Hyler was associate principal. He has actively participated in numerous professional organizations for school administrators.
Deanna Douglas, Ph.D., is assistant professor of psychology. She earned a doctorate in community/clinical psychology, a master’s in experimental psychology and bachelor’s in psychology, Magna Cum Laude, all from Wichita State University. Since 2005, Douglas served as instructor at Wichita State, teaching psychology courses. She has assisted with various research projects and has published and presented several papers in her field. Douglas is a volunteer with the Kansas Humane Society, assisting in the admissions department, conducting research, and facilitating an employee support group.
Jodi Frisbie is assistant professor of vocal and choral music. She comes to Bethany with 13 years teaching experience in both private and public settings. Most recently she served as voice teacher at the Studio of Performing Arts in Canton, Mass. Frisbie began her career as a junior high and high school vocal music teacher in Iowa. She has taught voice and music to all ages in numerous musical genres. Frisbie also has sung professionally for many years with extensive regional experience in the New England area. She holds a master’s degree in voice performance from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Iowa State University.
