LEONARD APPOINTS PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION TEAM
LINDSBORG, Kan. — Edward Leonard, the newly announced 13th president of Bethany College, has announced a transition team of local Lindsborg and Kansas residents, as well as campus members, to assist him in successfully transitioning into the Bethany presidency.
Leonard was announced earlier this month as the college’s new president by the Bethany board of directors. Leonard officially will begin his duties at the college later this summer. Leonard currently is vice president for college advancement at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.
“The transition committee will serve as a bridge between me and Bethany and Lindsborg’s key stakeholders that can help me become oriented and acclimated to Bethany and Lindsborg. The transition committee will exist over the next year, give or take. It’s with great pleasure that I share the individuals who have agreed to serve on this important committee,” Leonard said.
Committee members include:
- Don Anderson, transition committee chair, Bethany board member and retired educator
- DeVere Bloomberg, Bethany alumnus and active member of the Bethany Oratorio Society
- Judy Burch, Bethany alumna and Lindsborg community member
- Bob Carlson, Bethany Faculty Senate President and business professor
- Vicki Cornett, Bethany Staff Senate Chair
- Adam Esses, Bethany senior and Student Congress president
- Maleta Forsberg, Lindsborg artist
- Bill Gusenius, Bethany alumnus, Board member, and local attorney
- Ken Sjogren , Bethany alumnus, former staff member, and retired business owner
- Noni Strand, Bethany alumna and campus pastor
- Kimberly Streit, Bethany senior and a member of the recent Presidential Selection Advisory Committee
- Ross Tidemann, Bethany alumnus, Board member and Wichita businessman
“This committee, along with the Bethany Board, will help ensure a successful transition for me as we build the future of this great college. I am energized by the support I have already received,” Leonard said.
Bethany College, established by Swedish Lutheran immigrants in 1881, is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The mission of Bethany College is to nurture and challenge individuals in their search for truth and meaning as they live lives of faith, learning and service.
