KANSAS HIGH SCHOOL SINGERS PREPARE AT BETHANY WORKSHOP
LINDSBORG, Kan.—More than 330 high school singers from around the state participated in the third annual Bethania Choral Workshop on Sept. 27.
Registration was full for the event, which has doubled in size during the past three years.
Bethany College music faculty helped prepare the singers for their respective district, and eventually state, honor choir auditions by rehearsing assigned audition pieces. Mass choir rehearsals were led by Daniel Mahraun, director of choral activities at Bethany. Sectional rehearsals were led by additional members of the Bethany music faculty.
Singers in attendance came from twenty area high schools ranging in size from 1A to 6A.
Schools attended the free workshop for a variety of reasons. Some brought select students ready to fine-tune their abilities. Others used the event as general preparation for the auditions.
“All of the singers worked hard and made progress,” said Mahraun. “We are so pleased that we could introduce them to Bethany and provide this service.”
