BETHANY COLLEGE ATHLETICS TO BENEFIT FROM NEW COORDINATOR, CONSULTANT

LINDSBORG, Kan.—Two individuals with long-standing ties to Bethany College and its athletic programs will now work with the school in new roles.
Amy Cruce will work in conjunction with the Bethany Athletic Association (BAA) as its new coordinator.
Former BAA Coordinator Ted Kessinger will now use his expertise in athletic excellence to work with the college as a special consultant to the president.
As BAA coordinator, Cruce will work with the college’s advancement staff and athletic department. She is responsible for seeking out new members and cultivating relationships with potential members of the athletic association.
Cruce, who currently is marketing manager at Sam’s Club in Salina, earned a bachelor’s in communication from Bethany College in 2004. At Bethany, she was a member of the women’s basketball team.

In Kessinger’s new role, he will aid in research and feasibility studies that pertain to achieving athletic excellence at Bethany College. Included will be strategic planning, expanding athletic fund raising, evaluating the elements in the athletic program necessary for successful recruitment and retention and comparing Bethany’s athletic facilities to those of other area NAIA schools. Kessinger also will assist the president with donor prospects, special trainings and other projects pertaining to academic and athletic excellence.
Kessinger served the college as head football coach from 1976 until 2003.
The Bethany Athletic Association was initiated by Kessinger in 2004, gaining board approval in February of 2005. Kessinger laid the foundation for the association with a strategic plan and charter members. Bethany College made the association public on July 1, 2006. Current membership is more than 200, with over $100,000 in gifts credited to the association.
Bethany College, established by Swedish Lutheran immigrants in 1881, is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
