FAMILY HONORS ALUMNUS WITH GIFT TO RENOVATION PROJECT
LINDSBORG, Kan.—A significant gift to the Anderson Field and Stadium renovation project in Lindsborg has been made in honor of Jacob R. Warren, a 2006 graduate of Bethany College.
Warren, who was assistant vice president at Farmers State Bank and assistant football coach at Canton-Galva High School, died in September 2006.
While a student at Bethany, he was a member of the football team coached by Ted Kessinger.
“During the twenty-eight years that I had the privilege to be a part of the Bethany College football staff I was blessed with team members that exemplified what it takes to be successful, and put the team above their personal ambitions. Jake Warren was one of the best of these students,” said Kessinger, who now is special consultant to the president at Bethany. “I will remember Jake as a true champion: a talented athlete, a well-respected individual, and a leader in the best sense of the definition.
“It is indeed with great thankfulness that we accept this gift.”
The $50,000 donation in Warren’s honor was made by Farmers State Bank and members of his family, including Jeff, Crystal and Rachael Warren; J.B. and Margaret Warren; Greg and Chantel Warren and family; Tammy and Doug Curtright and family; Bryan and Penny Warren and family; and Elaine and Mead Clark and family.
Jeff Warren is president of Farmers State Bank, which has been part of the Lindsborg business community since 1990. The bank also has offices in McPherson and Galva.
Planned improvements to Anderson Field and Stadium include a multi-purpose turf field and a new, widened track to accommodate a soccer field. Working with a budget for renovations in the range of $1.2 million, Bethany College and USD 400 are close to achieving their goal.
