BETHANY INVITES COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE GROUNDBREAKING
LINDSBORG, Kan.—More dirt will fly at Bethany College on May 2, as the college breaks ground for a new apartment-style residence hall.

The community is invited to attend the ceremony, to be held at 4 p.m. at the future location of the building: directly south of Gregory Hall, the grass lot on the corner of Kansas Avenue and Olsson Street in Lindsborg.
The new hall, which has not yet been named, will house 67 students and one residence life staffer. It will include 16 units – each with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchenette and living room – along with a three-bedroom unit compatible with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
An artist’s rendering of the finished building will be on display at the ceremony. Bethany College President Edward F. Leonard III, as well as members of the Bethany College Board of Directors and Bethany students, will be on hand to celebrate.
The project is funded by Bethany College’s recent bond issue, which also will fund upcoming additions of laboratory space to Nelson Science Center and weight rooms to Stroble-Gibson Gymnasium.
Jeff Gillam, with Jones Gillam Architects in Salina, drew plans for the new residence hall. The hall’s builder is Woodco Construction Solutions, Inc., based in Republic, Mo.
“Bethany College would like to give special thanks to the City of Lindsborg, including Greg DuMars, Tim Dunn and Jim Miracle, for their help in getting the project off the ground and for waiving the permit fees,” said Director of Operations Jeff Barkman, who has managed the process.
Bethany College, established by Swedish Lutheran immigrants in 1881, is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The mission of Bethany College is to nurture and challenge individuals in their search for truth and meaning as they lead lives of faith, learning and service.
